About Us
The Children We Serve
Most of the infants and toddlers served by Birth to Three Developmental Center qualify for services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These children have at least a 25% delay in one or more developmental areas:
- Cognitive—ability to learn and how the child learns
- Physical—ability to move, see and hear
- Communication—ability to understand language and express needs
- Social or Emotional—ability to relate with others
- Adaptive Skills—ability to dress, eat and take care of self
Where We Work
We serve children and their families living in South King and Pierce Counties.
Referrals
We accept referrals from concerned families, pediatricians and other health care providers, school district personnel, early head start, and other social service programs.
Our Staff
Birth to Three Developmental Center employs highly skilled and caring Special Education Teachers, Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapists, Family Resources Coordinators, Classroom Support Staff, Administrative Support Staff, an Assistant Director and an Executive Director. Each teacher and therapist is licensed and/or certified by the State of Washington.
Funding:
Birth to Three Developmental Center's funding is obtained through school districts, King County Developmental Disabilities, The United Way of King County, The City of Federal Way, Pierce County Human Services, insurance fees, Medicaid, community partnerships, foundations, donations from community service organizations, businesses, friends in the community, board members and through Board sponsored events.
